My nephew was quite puzzled at this book and frankly so was I! We read it together but couldn't seem to understand why it was cobbling other animals onto itself. I had to hitting reviews and the afterwards to finally understand what was happening. Normally the cutting outs are super absurd and a highlight of a Carle book merely this fourth dimension the flaps with the animals were confusing and made the volume rather pointless to us.
Some of the things the chameleon wanted were rather senseless (the flamingo was handsome but it took the bird's wings!?) and then the entire story just got dirty for united states of america. It wasn't enjoyable at all and my nephew rushed through reading information technology to go it done. Information technology was quite sorry considering nosotros ordinarily adore Eric Carle books from the reading to the learning nosotros get nearly the brute he highlights.
With the correct child this may work! It they understand why there is a monster being built in front of them then this may exist fun. Only for my literal special needs nephew this was all kinds of wrong. I didn't enjoy the art AT ALL this time and didn't go the rainbow at the finish and really the art was then disappointing to me!
BOTTOM LINE: The cover is the best image of the entire book!

I loved this volume as much every bit everyone's Eric Carle favourite - the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The face of the chameleon who never quite matches his surroundings is precious. This is a great story; equally usual Eric Carle'south illustrations just jump off the folio, making everything seem alive. This story was a good follow up for the kids give-and-take on chameleons today. It reinforced what they learned about chameleons changing colors. This is a WOW book for me considering information technology addresses ideas nigh perceived happiness, alter, and personal identity. I think it is important for children to honey themselves and exist happy with who they are. The mixed-up chameleon showed that wanting to be someone else, and getting that wish, does not always make y'all happy. After reading this book myself, I decided to read information technology with a student in my class who confided in me that she did not like some things about herself. After reading this text with this particular kid her face lit upward and she exclaimed, "The chameleon went back to beingness itself! I gauge... yeah I guess being yourself can be skilful." I think this profoundly benefitted the fashion my student thought about herself, and would too be a benefit to all of my students and how they value themselves!

Chameleon felt he lived a irksome life. I twenty-four hour period he noticed all the animals at the zoo and he wished he could take the attributes of the animals. His wish came true with each animate being. The results prove to be rather entertaining. Be yourself and be happy with who you are, are the morals of this story.
